Toughy the Tripod was the family’s three-legged cat, acquired at a garage sale alongside ring-neck doves, a parrot, and other creatures — because of course she was.

Zoë drew her son surrounded by books, animals, and curiosity. A portrait of a childhood she saw clearly — and wanted to hold onto.
