Description
There are at least three originals of this piece — each different, each showing Zoë’s evolving skill. In Luke’s view, the Butterfly was Zoë’s homage to her own disease: a symptom of Lupus is a butterfly-shaped rash across the cheeks.
One original was given to Vanessa. A print was given to Crystal, who opened it and began to cry — and then took Luke upstairs to show him a room full of butterflies, explaining that her recently deceased grandmother always came to her in the form of one.
